Our baby was laid to rest,...

The past week and a half has been the hardest in my life. We had to put our sweet golden, Coby, to rest. A couple of weeks ago he was rushed to emergency surgery. He was bleeding to death. He had a mass on his spleen that had ruptured. He had his spleen removed and was recovering well. We found out on Mother's Day that he had hemagiosarcoma, a very aggressive form of cancer. We were told Coby would probably have three months to live. Not two days after getting his stiches out, and one week after the cancer diagnosis, he took a turn for the worse. He went into heart failure and had to be put to rest. He was my best friend, my baby, and he will be missed dearly. He was seven years young. We sent him home with my parents to be buried at his favorite place on their 17 acres.

We have decided for now that we will consider being a foster family for rescue goldens, goldens who have had a rough go at life so far and just need a loving place until they find their forever family. Someday we'll consider another pup, none will ever replace Coby, but for now, we're happy to just try and help other goldens in need and maybe they'll help us to heal as well.
